MyFreeImplants: Stretching the Limits of Social Media

A website founded in 2005 has one goal: give women breast implants…for free. It may seem impossible, but as always, the devil is in the details. The website itself, which is aptly titled MyFreeImplants.com, doesn’t simply give money to women who want implants-that would be impossible-but rather describe themselves as “a social networking website that provides a fun, safe, and debt free alternative to expensive breast augmentation loans.” The debt free alternative lies in the social networking aspect of MyFreeImplants. 7 years after its founding, the site hosts 4,000 active members-cash-strapped hopefuls like BoycottPants, 2Legit2Quit, and KristinNeedsBoobs-and 40,000 donors.

The donors, who are mostly men, interact virtually with any of the 4,000 female members, who solicit them for money. Despite the hunky-dory description on the website, most donors are probably less interested in “helping women achieve their dreams” and “the everlasting gratitude” they’ll receive as a result, and more interested in the photos and videos they’ll receive for making a donation.

To put it plainly: MyFreeImplants is not ethical. There’s nothing wrong with the fact that the site caters to women who need money for breast implants. Breast implants positively impact the lives of millions of women every year. Similarly, there’s nothing wrong with people donating to help women towards this end. But add webcams, and you create a situation with an inherent imbalance of power where the men want, the women might be willing to give in order to get a few dollars.

There are plenty of completely legal websites where women strip in front of a camera and men pay to watch them, but these sites are acknowledge what they are. It would be unlikely for a girl to join one of these sites only to discover she’s expected to expose herself. There’s great potential for this sort of situation on MyFreeImplants. Added to this the fact that many of these women are young, and likely suffer from low self-esteem, the last people they need to feel indebted to are semi-anonymous men out to see some skin.

While the commonality of breast implants continues to rise, as does the procedure’s acceptability, MyFreeImplants seems capable of tarnishing the image of breast augmentation in general. More than anything, it seems to be a virtualization and literalization of all too many prevalent social problems.

40 Percent Increase in Breast Augmentation, Athens GA

40 Percent Increase in Breast Augmentation, Athens GA

Let’s face it; plastic surgery is definitely on the rise. This is particularly true for breast augmentation. Athens GA plastic surgeon, Dr. Pittman, asserts that breast augmentation has arguably become the most performed plastic surgery procedure in the United States. While breast augmentation is typically performed on patients seeking to enhance their cup size, there are also individuals who seek out this procedure in an effort to repair an existing malformation with their breasts as a result of a tragic experience, i.e. mastectomy after a cancer diagnosis. Whether you are a fan of this cosmetic procedure or not, there are plenty of reasons, both superficial and not, why one would consider going under the knife. Let us explore one of the most common reasons why increasing numbers of individuals resort to this cosmetic procedure every year.

Most of us have heard about breast augmentation with respect to females, whether you personally have them or know someone who has. What you may not know is why she went under the knife, but if you were to guess that she was seeking to gain self confidence through an enhancement to her physical appearance, you may be right. Generally speaking, many women undergo augmentation with the hopes that bigger cleavage and generally larger breasts will make them feel better about themselves. Everybody knows that confidence in one’s physical appearance equates to overall self confidence. With that in mind, by making a slight and safe change to your body, particularly to an area of your body that causes you to feel inadequate, i.e. breast size, one can subsequently increase their self confidence, not only in social situations but also in professional situations.

All judgments cast aside; breast augmentation can provide a significant boost to one’s confidence. In a world where confidence can and does directly attribute to success, it’s no wonder why breast augmentation is on the rise. For more information on breast augmentation, interested individuals should consult a local expert.

Breast Augmentation Top Surgery In 2011

The most popular plastic surgery in the US is still breast augmentation. Riverside surgeons were not the only ones to see this trend sustain. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, 307,000 procedures were completed in 2011, up 4% from the previous year in 2010.

There are many reasons cited for this increase. One is the consumer confidence in surgeons. Another is that the cultural perception of this procedure is growing in acceptance. The advancements in technology and methods have made procedures safer, and women have more options than ever before. With this increase in options, there is more potential to reach the patient’s personal goals. Plastic surgeons should discuss the surgical plan extensively and customize each surgery for the best possible results with their patients. Patients looking for natural results should view a doctor’s before and after photos to get a feel for the doctor’s style. This allows the patient to understand what possible results she might see.

Although augmentation surgeries still focus on the two most basic options between saline and silicone, these options in themselves can be customized. Silicone presents a number of options regarding size, shape, and texture. Saline implants have the most options for incision placement.

Patient education is key to making the right decisions for surgery. Breast augmentation candidates should fully understand their options so that they are confident in their decision and committed to the preparation and recovery. The most important consideration that ASPS urges people to keep in mind is to research for a board certified surgeon. This ensures that they have the knowledge and training necessary for pleasing results. To explore options in breast augmentation, Riverside residents should research the procedure before scheduling a consultation. Surgeons who handles these procedures are here to help women feel more comfortable and confident in their bodies.

Breast Augmentation — All About the Cup Size, Right? Wrong!

Breast Augmentation — All About the Cup Size, Right? Wrong!

Many women (and probably most men) believe that breast augmentation surgery is only successful if you can increase your cup size as much as possible. Go big or go home, right? What is the point of having the surgery if you’re not going for dramatic results? And don’t you get more of your money’s worth by going for a bigger implant size? However, bigger is not always better. We all know women that have had boob jobs and now look unnaturally top heavy. Maybe their petite frame wasn’t meant to carry that amount of weight. Or maybe they stand out as fake when surveyed on the beach in their bikini next to naturally busted women. Depending on the reason for your breast augmentation surgery, choosing the biggest implant size may not be your best choice.

In fact, many women enjoy dramatic changes in their figure with even modest cup size increases as long as the overall placement and symmetry is done properly. If you want the results of your breast augmentation surgery to look and feel natural, then you should have a few serious discussions with your physician about which cup size is best for you. It is vitally important to ensure your plastic surgeon is listening to both your concerns and idealistic expectations. He or she should be able to answer all of your questions while keeping you informed of risks or potential drawbacks.

It makes sense that women who are looking for breast implant surgery are obviously looking to increase the size of their breasts. But that doesn’t necessarily mean biggest is best. For example, a petite woman with a small frame and a very modest A cup may be perfectly happy simply moving up to a large B or small C. For other women that are starting out as Bs and Cs, they will want to go a little larger. And for still other women in a professional industry such as dancing or modeling, the biggest cup size available may really be what they’re looking for. But it is usually not wise for an A cup to try and jump to a DD.

Reasons for modest increases in breast size are varied and often depend on the goals of the individual. Dr. Pittman and his team of friendly professionals are very careful to communicate in depth with their patients to ensure the ultimate goal for obtaining breast augmentation is known so that they can tailor the procedure to fit the needs of the patient. It is vitally important to take this time up front in order to ensure you are satisfied with the results of your procedure directly after the surgery and for years to come.

What does a Breast Augmentation Cost?

What does a Breast Augmentation Cost?

As you are considering breast augmentation surgery, you may be trying to plan your decision based on how much it will set you back financially. Can you afford it right now? Can you finance it? How much is it really going to cost? It’s easy enough to look on the Internet for the answers to some of these questions, but you won’t likely get an accurate picture of how much you are going to pay. Or you will get a vague idea of what it’s supposed to cost that will end up being inflated with hidden fees and rising costs and new tests that need to be ordered.

There are a number of different things that go into the cost of breast augmentation surgery including physician fees, operating room time, anesthesia fees, and pre- or post-operative lab work and other miscellaneous items. These charges will vary widely depending on the education and expertise of the plastic surgeon, the type of procedure and implant you have chosen, and what part of the state or country you are in. As such, there is a wide discrepancy in fees for breast augmentation surgery from a backwoods family physician in the middle of nowhere to a subspecialized plastic surgeon with several awards that only performs this procedure and no others. In most instances, you are going to get what you pay for. In other words, it’s not usually a good idea to cut corners or try to save money on a procedure that will dramatically change the way you look and feel.

Subglandular vs. Subpectoral Breast Augmentation: How Do They Differ?

Subglandular vs. Subpectoral Breast Augmentation: How Do They Differ?

Although there are several types of breast augmentation procedures, arguably the two most popular forms of this cosmetic procedure are the subglandular and subpectoral. While both procedures are designed to portray the most natural looking breast enhancement possible, they do differ by the method in which the implant is placed into the breast, which is primarily contingent upon the pre-existing condition of the breast (i.e. a lot of breast tissue) as well as the desired results of the patient. Specifically, in the subglandular breast augmentation procedure, the implant is placed above the pectoral muscles but below the mammary glands. In doing so, the above the muscle placement is likely to yield a natural looking result as the breast implant is directly placed under the tissue, allowing the tissue to give way to shape of the implant. This is particularly true if the patient already has a great deal of tissue in the breast.

Alternatively, in the subpectoral breast augmentation procedure, the breast implant is placed below the pectoralis major muscle. In doing so, only the upper half of the implant is placed under the muscle. Depending on the viewpoint of the plastic surgeon performing the surgery, the placement of the implant below the pectoralis major muscle can be more advantageous in diminishing capsular contracture, rippling and sagging in comparison to the subglandular procedure. However, Subpectoral breast augmentation can and does yield a more desirable result that is natural looking, with patients who have little breast tissue prior to the procedure as placement below the pectoralis major muscle will result in a higher placement of the implant. Patient is aware that in this instance, you may also require additional procedures such as a breast lift in an effort to achieve said natural look. If you are interested in breast augmentation, find a plastic surgeon you can trust.

Choose A Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

It can be difficult to find the right cosmetic specialist for your enhancement surgery. However, it it is important that you do your research and find a board certified plastic surgeon. Philadelphia patients need to be sure that they are working with a professional dedicated to the skill and artistry of the field.

Over the past several months, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, as well as other organizations, have been educating the general public about the importance of board certification. It is a little known fact that any doctor with a surgical license can perform cosmetic surgery, even without the additional years of training and board certification. What’s worse is that many people practice without a medical license at all, especially when it comes to BOTOX and injectables.

Board certification is important not only for the patient’s safety, but also for achieving the best possible results. Your plastic surgeon should be dedicated to safe medical practices and successful surgical plans for optimal results. To become board certified, one must spend five additional years learning how to conduct safe and effective surgeries, while developing their skill and artistry as a plastic surgeon. Philadelphia professionals also need to commit themselves to continuing education to retain their certification.

With rapid advancements in the field, your surgeon should stay current with the latest methods and techniques. These innovations also help to reduce risk for patients by being less invasive and more precise.

In addition to board certification, your plastic surgeon should also be experienced and highly skilled. Cosmetic surgery professionals usually hold memberships with at least one accredited society or association. It is important to check your doctor’s credentials before scheduling a consultation. The best choice for your cosmetic surgery is a board certified plastic surgeon. Philadelphia patients can learn more about a variety of procedures finding a board certified doctor.

Increase in Cosmetic Surgery Again in 2011

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons has recently released their 2011 statistics and the rate of plastic surgery procedures is on rise for the second year in a row and up 5% from 2010.
